Google Local Service Ads
Google local service ads help connect your business with interested customers on the Google Search Network. These ads appear at the top of search results above everything else, including text-based search ads. These ads differ from traditional search ads in that they operate on a pay-per-lead model as opposed to pay-per-click. Advertisers are only charged when interested clients take designated actions (call or contact) from the advertisers’ local service profile.
Google Screened VS Google Guaranteed
Only some types of businesses are eligible for Google’s Local Service Ads. If your business is eligible for the program, you will fall under two business type categories, Google Screened or Google Guaranteed.
Google Screened is currently a test program limited to a few verticals in restricted markets across the United States. It is geared towards professional services (Law, Financial Planning, Real Estate) and requires participating businesses to pass a 3rd party background and licensing check.
Google Guaranteed is a more widely available program that covers a broad range of home services including HVAC, Appliance Repair, House Cleaning, Locksmiths, Plumbers, and more. Google Guaranteed also offers potential clients a $2,000 money-back guarantee if they are not satisfied with the provider’s work. Reimbursements decisions are made solely at Google’s discretion.
Google does not offer reimbursements for the following issues
- Add-on or future projects, damages to property, dissatisfaction with price or provider responsiveness, or cancellations.
Additional Requirements
In addition to passing the required background and licensing checks, advertisers must also meet the following requirements to participate in the Screened or Guaranteed programs:
- Businesses must have an active Google My Business profile
- Businesses must have the proper licensing and insurance
- Businesses must be able to pass a 3rd party background check
